Llandegla Mountain Biking, Llandegla

Llandegla Mountain Biking
One of the best mountain biking facilities in Wales. The routes take you through forests and hills. It appears you go down hill more than up, which is a bonus!

There are 4 runs: a family run a beginners run a red run for intermediary skills and a black run! The centre hires bikes and also sells them, as well as equipment.

There is a cafe on site. The carpark is a shade under £5. Great in the sun but more danger and fun in the rain!!!!!!!!!

Coastal Ship Walk activity header

Coastal Ship Walk, Llanerch-y-Mor

Coastal Ship Walk
Between Abakhan and the Ship Sunday Market is a pathway down to the old Duke of Lancaster Ship. There are 2 paths, take the one furthest away from Abakhan.

The walk is beside a small stream, and takes you down onto an abandoned harbour where the ship is now dry docked. If you carry along the sea front, you meet the coast walk towards Greenfield and Flint.

This is a beautiful area with lots of butterflies and birds. The fishing for flatty's is pretty good also. Suitable for bikes as well. On a wet day, it does get muddy. Great for exploring.

Plas Newyd activity header

Plas Newyd, Llangollen

Plas Newyd
This stunning 18th Century Gothic manor house was once home to Eleanor Butler and Miss Sarah Ponsonby, the Ladies of Llangollen; two women from vastly different backgrounds, who both felt trapped in their respective lives, before escaping together. The women would at times entertain more than twenty guests a day here from truly high class society. The house itself has been well maintained by the Urban Council since it took over in 1932, but the gardens are in need of some care.

Horseshoe Falls activity header

Horseshoe Falls, Llangollen

Horseshoe Falls
Horshoe falls is a rather striking Weir, built 3 years after the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, by one of the aqueducts creators, Thomas Telford. Although dating from 1808 the world heritage site has been well maintained and the walkway is well surfaced. Care must however be taken due to the access being limited to a long flight of stairs or a steep, sometimes slippery field. Those with difficulties walking may struggle but can still access the walkway from the Motor Museum nearby.
