Moel Arthur
Moel Arthur is a hill in the Clwydian range, that straddles the counties of Denbighshire and Flintshire. Moel Arthur is renowned for its iron-age hillfort, which although small can boast some of the largest ramparts of all of the hillforts in the area. To reach Moel Arthur, take the A541 from Mold, just after the turning for Cilcain (about 50 yards) take the narrow road on the left. Parking will be found in the free car park on the right. The walk which is relatively easy, (a steady climb) takes about 30 mins, and is 0.7 miles to the summit.

Lovely woodland walk on the Clwedog trail which stretches for 6.5 miles and incorporates Minera Lead Mines, Nant Mill, Plas Power Wood ending up at Kings Mill in Wrexham.

For those not wanting to venture that far there are shorter walks from the visitor centre - there is a small play area for the kids, activities in the centre itself and a lovely picnic area - this is a popular place for Duck racing so keep an eye out for these events.

A great day out is the Welsh Mountain Zoo above Colwyn Bay. This is one of North Wales' top attractions.

With panoramic views over the Conwy Valley and amazing scenery, the gardens are home to this caring conservation zoo.

The zoo is well stocked with sealions, leopards, bears, camels, penguins, pandas, monkeys and so many more species to list here.

An 8 mile traffic free cycleway - great for family cycling as lovely and flat. The tarmac pathway makes it great for the scooters and towing bike trailers.

The path is also suitable for wheelchair users. Great for a mud free autumn or winter walk.

There are various access points - a good place to start is Corus Works as you can get parked up in that area.

Wepre Park
A great place for walking, playing and fishing. Well looked after by Flintshire Countryside Service this ancient woodland is a lovely place for a family walk whether you want to enjoy nature or take a local history lesson as you walk through Wepre old hall and on to Ewloe castle. Refreshments and toilet facilities are available at the visitor centre.

The facility has a 25 metre pool, a smaller learner pool, spectator gallery and vending area.

The pool has recently been renovated with new pool tiles, considerable work to the roof and refurbished changing area as well as the pool being resized for competition purposes

The Port has a history spanning 500 years, ending with its demise in the 1960s when the slipway access to the Dee was eventually lost. The recently formed Quay Waterman’s Association (QWA) aims to restore the Grade II listed dock and has recently opened The Quayside tearooms, situated in the Kathleen and May Centre (formerly the Sea Cadet Centre), serving a selection of hot and cold drinks and delicious homemade cakes and snacks. Visitors can also book River Dee boat trips for all abilities.
